Calahonda was developed in 1963 with a design that was to ensure it had large green open area's, to create a relaxed environment of rural flavour with a coastal lifestyle. This blueprint from Calahonda's developer Juan de Orbaneja has remained true to this day which is why so many people return to this area of Andalusia year after year.
Calahonda is in the unique position of being almost equidistant from the larger more tourist filled towns of Marbella and Fuengirola, yet close to everything you could possibly need for your vacation. Within Calahonda you have over 45 restaurants, bars and cafe's. There are many businesses that serve the community well, with around seven banks, a dentist, a medical centre, car hire and taxis companies to name but a few.
Blue flag beach's are within 10/15 mins walk of the apartment. Once there, you will find many places to hire sun beds and parasols from around €5. Beach cafes (Chiringuito's) are scattered all along the coastal walk serving great food and refreshments, many having live entertainment during the weekend in the height of the season.
The great outdoor lifestyle is mainly why visitors flock to Spain each year, so here are just a few things to highlight whats available. There are a number of outlets around the local beach area that offer watersports such as paragliding, jet ski's and pedalos etc. Private charter boats for pleasure cruising can be found in nearby Cabopino as well as Marbella and Fuengirola. If you are looking for a bit more adventure in the water, there is a centre in Marbella for snorkeling and diving right on the marina and if its fishing trips your looking for they can be found in nearby Fuengirola.
Below is a small selection of video clips that showcase Calahonda's most attractive features.
